Mateo G. Leon Leon, MD, is an assistant professor for the Department Of Obstetrics, Gynecology And Reproductive Sciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). Dr. Leon Leon was born in Ecuador and he earned his medical degree at Universidad Internacional del Ecuador. He discovered his passion for gynecologic surgery while training as an OB/GYN resident at McGovern Medical School at UT Health.
He subsequently completed a two-year American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) fellowship in advanced minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Leon then earned a faculty appointment at McGovern Medical School at UT Health and sees patients at UT Physician’s Women’s Centers.
Dr. Leon Leon is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His areas of interest include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, adnexal masses, abnormal uterine bleeding, laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, vaginal surgery, fertility-sparing surgery, and surgical education.
He enjoys soccer, running, and spending time with family during his free time.
