Liberty Masonry & Construction

This company did some masonry repair and also repainted my house. I am extremely unhappy. The project started when they rang my doorbell and offered to power-wash one side of my house that had a ton of green algae growing on it. I said that I was going to wait until the spring when I was going to paint anyhow. They insisted that they could power wash now and that it would look much better, even without painting. They even said that if some paint came off while power washing, they would touch it up. When they finished, it looked horrible. A lot of paint came off and clearly it needed to be painted right away. They offered to paint the house at a discount to make up for this. I had not been planning to spend the money now, but felt I had no choice because it looked so bad. They said they would do 4 coats of paint. I doubt they did as it looks blotchy. They also only covered the windows and so they got paint on exterior light fixtures, my driveway, the basement cement and the stonework in the driveway. When I asked about the white trim on the house, they then told me that wasn't included in the price, however, they hadn't taped it so they got yellow paint on the white trim! They started painting on Friday, 10/28 and claimed that they would be done on Saturday, 10/29 and pushed for the final payment. I didn't give it to them on Saturday as they were clearly not done. They came back on Monday, 10/31 and did a lot more work. The guy overseeing the project needed to leave before the end of the day.
He wanted the final payment.
I didn't want to give him all the money until the job was done.
Unfortunately, my husband caved in and gave him the final payment.
However, they ran out of paint before finishing the deck railings and left Monday night without finishing the job and without cleaning up the mess that they have made of my property. They said they would return Tuesday but didn't (they blamed the weather). They were supposed to come back Wednesday (it was sunny) but never showed up. We finally got hold of the “boss” who promised that they would return on Saturday, 11/12 to finish the job. Having to wait almost two weeks with the work incomplete and their garbage all over our property was unacceptable, but we had no leverage so we waiting. Well, 11/12 has come and gone and they never showed up. The work they left unfinished is:
1. Unfinished painting
a. The deck railings are not finished
b. Over the dining room window on the front of the house, there is a spot that was not painted

2. Unfinished masonry work on the slate in the backyard
a. The cement that was added between pieces of slate was sloppy and got on the slate. We were told that acid would be used to remove it. This has not happened.
b. Sand was poured all over the slate supposedly to seal the smaller cracks. This work was not finished. The slate is now covered with sand.

3. Sloppy painting got paint where it doesn’t belong. It needs to be removed from:
a. the stonework on the side of the driveway
b. the basement masonry
c. the slate behind the kitchen
d. the light fixtures mounted on the back of the house
e. the deck, which was not being painted
f. the white trim

4. Cleanup
a. All the stuff they left around scattered around our property.
b. We had given them a can of leftover paint from the last time we painted so that they could get the same color. They were supposed to give it back so that we had the information regarding the color but they didn’t.
