After meeting the owner of this company I thought I was hiring a professional painting contractor. I could not have been more wrong. The contract was for them to scrape the existing paint and remove all the pieces as the on the house had tested positive for lead. They were also to put two coats on everything. I received a call from the company telling me the crew would be coming on a specific day to start painting. I went over to the house later in the morning and no one was there. I called Flynn to ask and they were surprised that the crew was not there painting. I heard back from the next day apologizing and giving me another start date. On that date I went to see them working and then came back later in the day to see their progress. They had about 30% of the house painted and their ladders and paint were in the backyard. I noticed that the paint they had used was listed as interior! I contacted them the next day and they were surprised but admitted the mistake. After talking to a rep from Sherwin Williams I was told that they would have to paint two coats of exterior over what they had already painted. To make sure they did this I put marks on numerous areas so I would know they put at least one coat over what was done with interior paint. After assurances from the company that they would take care of the mistake the crew came back to put two coats on everything. Basically repainting everything and starting over. I got a call the following week saying they are all done and I should go take a look. The first thing I noticed was that they had now scraped the very top areas of the house but left all the paint scraps laying on the walkway and front porch. I had paid extra for them to safety remove what they scraped off but apparently they were in a rush to start painting and left all the lead paint scrapings. And they they had left numerous areas unpainted as well as dumped their cleaning water on the plants along the side of the house. All the marks I had put on the interior paint were still there! So they had not even put one additional coat of exterior paint on the house in those areas. Several areas were painted so badly that you could still see the original paint through what they put over. After sending them photos of what they didn’t paint and making them aware that several areas still had only one coat of the interior paint on it. We agreed to have a rep from Sherwin Williams come over to inspect their painting. We met along with a supervisor from Flynn and found numerous areas not painted, numerous areas obviously having only one coat (you could still see the original paint under what they put on) as well as many of my marks still on what was the first coat of interior paint meaning they did not go over it. The supervisor admitted that the crew gets paid by the job not the hour so basically their goal is to get the job done as quickly as possible with the quality of the job obviously not being a factor. The crew does not seem to what I would consider professional painters by any means. The company admitted the mistakes (again) and set another date to get things done as stated in the contract. It took two days but they finally got things done. The painting was a bit sloppy in areas but at this point I did not have any more time to continually deal with this company. For all the issues they extended the warranty from two to four years. Honestly even if I had any issues with paint peeling I would not want this company back to do anything. Unless you have the time to constantly monitor to make sure they are doing what you paid them for I would seriously avoid this company for any painting!
