Dr. Mike Boyer is a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician who practices at the Easley office of Blue Ridge Orthopaedics. Dr. Boyer grew up in northwestern Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He then went back to his home state to earn his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in family medicine at Self Regional in Greenwood, SC. It was during his residency that he discovered sports medicine in the primary care setting. At that time ultrasound was gaining traction for both diagnostic purposes and also as an imaging guide to direct procedures. With this newfound interest, Dr. Boyer stayed in Greenwood for an additional year of training to complete his Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship under the direction of Drs. David Sealy and Mark Leski. He came to Easley in August of 2013 to work as a non-surgical, musculoskeletal physician. Dr. Boyer pursued additional training after coming to Easley to perform radiofrequency ablations to treat patients with refractory knee pain. Also, because Dr. Boyer was proficient with both ultrasound techniques and using radiofrequency energy as a heat source, he pursued additional training to treat patients with symptomatic venous disease. Dr. Boyer lives in Easley with his wife, Amy, their twins, Alistair and Bella Grace, and their youngest, Luke. He enjoys running, bicycling, and is active in his church with teaching and leading a small group.
