Let me start by saying that my quest for a locksmith turned out to be an adventure worthy of a comedy sketch. Picture this: a lost car key, a disappearing locksmith, and enough confusion to fill a whole season of a sitcom!
In my moment of desperation, I stumbled upon Allens Locksmith, recommended by another locksmith company. They showed up the same day, ready to save the day with a new key and alarm for my Toyota Highlander. The first part seemed promising - they charged me $160 for their services.
But oh boy, things took a comical twist when I inquired about a second key and alarm. I was given a quote of $35 for the key and $40 for the alarm, which I gladly accepted. However, when the locksmith finished, I was hit with a bill of $290 including the cost of the original key! Surprise, surprise! Apparently, there were some "hidden fees" and taxes that made their way into the final tally. I guess locksmith math works differently than regular math.
Now, let me tell you, I was prepared to let it slide and give them a five-star rating despite the bizarre billing debacle. However, fate had other plans. The very next day, one of the keys stopped working! Cue the laugh track.
I called Allens Locksmith, expecting some answers. But all I got was a whole lot of confusion. They told me the guy who worked on my car was fired for being a shady locksmith. Wow, what a twist! Did I just stumble into a locksmith-themed soap opera?
They suggested I bring my car to their office for troubleshooting. Alright, fine. I did, weeks later when I had some free time amidst this locksmith melodrama. They claimed it might be a faulty transponder and offered to reprogram my original key for $75, with another $75 for new transponders in the keys I bought from them weeks earlier.
Now, I'm no Shakespeare, but I'm pretty sure the phrase "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" applies here. I refused to pay more for their mistakes; again!
It turns out their "professional" locksmiths are just contractors who, as it seems, have more drama than a reality show. And guess what? They don't stand by their product; they pass the buck to the customer. Allen stood by his stance and said he is going to charge me to fix the problem they knowingly caused.
So, dear readers, take my advice and find a locksmith that stands by their product and where you don't feel like the butt of their jokes. The only laughs you'll get are the ones they have at your expense. I, for one, have found my peace getting my original key reprogramed and treating the other two as spares that remind me of the terrible service I received from Allens Locksmith.
